I struggle with the term of ‘Kings’ visiting Jesus.
A better translation would be ‘wise-ones’ or ‘magi’.
I understand Iranian Christians claim them for their own, as saints from what was Persia.
The number you will find disputed, three was only the number of the gifts they carried with them. There could have been many in a caravan and they probably had females in their number. In Eastern Christianity, especially the Syriac churches, the Magi often number twelve.
The important issue is that they came seeking this ‘King born of the Jews’. Seeing and recognising the signs are separate use of the senses.
God grant me such sight in equal measure – wisdom indeed!
