Nathanael follow with a promise ringing in his ears, “You will see greater things than these!”

So it will be for all who follow Jesus. We cannot hear His call and not let ourselves be changed. The plights and delights of other cannot be ignored in the framework of God’s loving example in Jesus.

What have you done today, differently because of this Epiphany?

So Philip says to Nathanael, ‘We have found him about whom Moses and the prophets wrote, Jesus son of Joseph from Nazareth.’

‘Can anything good come out of Nazareth?’

St. Nathanael of Sarcasm! Looking at a small backwater and making a snap decision without all the facts.

Sounds familiar? Do you jump to conclusions about others?

‘Never criticise someone until you have walked a mile in their shoes’, is an old saying. Billy Connolly added: ‘Because then you will be a mile away from them…..and you will have their shoes!’

Nathanael proved to be so wrong.

Are You Sitting Comfortably?

24th January 2015

So Philip says to Nathaniel, ‘We have found him about whom Moses and the prophets wrote, Jesus son of Joseph from Nazareth.’

Nathanael answers Philip's exitement.said, ‘Can anything good come out of Nazareth?’

I wonder, had Nathanael been sitting under the fig tree in contemplative mood, before Philip hit him with the amazing news about the Messiah?

Contemplating his peaceful existence and knowledge of God as he shaded himself under a fig tree, ‘All’s right with the world” ; or Nathanael, far from being content with the way things were, resented the lack of peace and security under the brutal Roman occupation and dreamed of a new order and the time of the Messiah.

Where are you sitting? Are you content or restless ?
