You are the Branch

Tuesday 29 November

The fabulous image of God’s kingdom, perhaps in the future, perhaps possible even in the present, is dreamed in Isaiah 11.1-10. From the ‘mountain’ of peaceful coexistence, even between wild animals, to the picture of the messiah perfect and beautiful. But what if this passage was a blueprint of your perfection and beauty? What if this passage is a challenge to your way of living as Christian.
Question: What sits comfortably for me as an individual and what grates?
Jesus you are of the ‘stock of Jesse’. How can I be your branch today? As I dwell on Isaiah 11 give me grace to recognise the kingdom marks in me. Amen

Wed 4th

Even in prophesy there is laughter!

The morning prayer reading from the Old Testament was from. Isaiah 28 – a section read thus and was repeated a second time:

Therefore the word of the Lord will be to them,
‘Precept upon precept, precept upon precept,
line upon line, line upon line,
here a little, there a little’;

The first time I smiled, the second time mirth was bubbling up. Old MacDonald had a farm and “Everywhere a little, little!” Well it Just jumped into my mind and out through my chuckle muscle.

Does God titter? Can spirituality laugh.

I hope so!
